Universities, publishers and researchers to showcase leading scientific, technological and mathematical programs available to New Jersey schools during "Decision Makers Institute" on April 26 at Stevens

More than 100 of New Jersey’s leading K-12 educators will review leading mathematics, science and technology programs from universities, publishing companies and researchers for their classes during "The Decision Makers Institute" symposium April 26, at Stevens Institute of Technology beginning at 8:30 a.m., in the Bissinger Room, on the fourth floor of the Wesley J. Howe Center on the university’s Hoboken campus.

The Decision Makers Institute will allow offer school officials to review new programs featuring high quality, standards-based content and which provide the opportunity for comprehensive teacher training to promote classroom implementation. Participants will learn information and contacts for these exemplary mathematics, science, and technology resources. The educators will also gain an overview of the programs, their associated costs and identify potential funding strategies to help support the costs of training and implementation.

In addition, Gordon Thomas, a physicist for Bell Laboratories of Lucent Technologies, will discuss "How a Light Beam Can Laugh" and other breakthroughs in communication technology as the keynote speaker. Dana Egreczky, director of Education Programming at the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, will also discuss funding strategies for schools as the featured luncheon speaker.
