HOBOKEN, N.J. - The Environmental Entrepreneurship Lab (E 2 Lab) will host a conference on December 7, 2009, on smart grid energy technologies.
The E 2 Lab is a project from Stevens Institute of Technology to transform the structure, policies, processes and culture of a research intensive university to dramatically improve the rate of transfer of new technologies into marketplace ventures.
The effort is focused on elevating the business awareness among faculty and students and introducing entrepreneurial behavior by implementing several innovative educational initiatives aimed at enabling the integration of technological and market knowledge into the academic culture.
The Dec. 7 event will be held at the NYC Accelerator for a Clean & Renewable Economy (NYC ACRE) at 160 Varick Street in New York and will feature a variety of research presentations and startup company presentations. The Networking event will also give aspiring inventors a chance to receive valuable feedback about their technologies.
The Key Note speech will be given by Guru Nadkarni, Vice President for Strategic Planning at Con Edison entitled “Strategic Issues and Opportunities in Transmission and Distribution."
The E2 Lab model focuses on early-stage research addressing important problems as defined by industry, government and other “market-facing” stakeholders. It also has the potential to enhance engineering and technology education by bringing an entrepreneurial perspective to the consideration of potential problem areas.
