Walshes to chair The Edwin A. Stevens Society

Dr. Harold J. Raveche, President of Stevens Institute of Technology, announced that James and Mary Anne Walsh will serve as chairs of The Edwin A. Stevens Society, a network of industry leaders, inventors, business professionals, entrepreneurs and educators who make substantial annual contributions to Stevens. The Walshes reside in New York City and Martha's Vineyard, Mass.

"Stevens is extremely fortunate to have such a generous and committed couple serving as chairs of this prestigious giving society," said Dr. Raveche.

The Walshes join Claire Solu, the recently named director of The Edwin A. Stevens Society, in the university's latest efforts to lead and expand the group's membership.

"We're honored to have the opportunity to work with the Walshes in this way," Solu said. "They recognize that a crucial component of The Campaign for Stevens' $102 million goal is the vitality of annual giving."

Stevens' current capital campaign, which will be completed by 2004, is designed to support faculty and program development, student scholarships and fellowships, facilities, the university's endowment, and other initiatives.

James Walsh is an alumnus of Stevens, holding undergraduate and graduate degrees in physics. He also holds an MBA from Columbia University. Dr. Mary Anne Walsh is a graduate of Caldwell College and holds a master's from Seton Hall University and doctorate from Columbia University.

Mr. Walsh has been active on the Stevens Board of Trustees and also serves on the Board Committee of the Wesley J. Howe School of Technology Management, also at Stevens. He has extensive experience in wealth management, investment banking and technology financing. He currently works as a financial service industry executive at Zurich Financial Services. There, he leads a task force charged with the implementation of the Zurich pan-European banking strategy and the development of a worldwide presence in the private banking and securities business.
