Technogenesis is a weekly TV program produced by Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens), in cooperation with cn8, the Comcast Network. The program will feature the expertise of Dr. Gary Lynn, an associate professor at Stevens Institute of Technology and frequent technology writer, and Glenn Reitmeier, a vice president at the Sarnoff Corporation.
The Technogenesis program, "Best Practices in New Product Development" airs at 7:00 p.m., on cn8, the Comcast Network, each of the following Sundays in New Jersey and parts of neighboring states, including the Philadelphia and Baltimore regions: May 5, May 19, June 2, and June 16. The program will also appear at various times throughout the week on the local Comcast outlets in Prince William and Fairfax counties, Va., as well as Prince George's County, Md. Dr. Lynn is an associate professor at the Wesley J. Howe School of Technology Management at Stevens Institute of Technology. He recently completed a ten-year study of over 700 new product teams, including 49 "blockbusters," such as Palm Pilots and I-Omega zip drives. Dr. Lynn has authored or co-authored over 40 publications, including many on the intersection of technology, innovation and marketing. These insights are summarized in his new book, "BLOCKBUSTERS: How to Create Them -- and How Your Company Can Too," HarperCollins Publishers (October).
Dr. Reitmeier is the vice president of Special Projects at Sarnoff Corporation. A leading creator and architect of digital television, he holds over 45 patents in digital video and digital media technology. Dr. Reitmeier has received three technical Emmy awards, pioneered five startup companies and introduced many "world's first" achievements. He was also awarded the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers' Progress Medal "for over 20 years of pioneering contributions to digital video." Reitmeier also received the prestigious Leitch Gold Medal "for outstanding contributions in the application of digital technology to the motion imaging arts and sciences."
