Students in Beijing celebrate new Stevens graduate program

BEIJING, CHINA - Stevens Institute of Technology officials joined Stevens' newest students in Beijing, China, in mid-November to celebrate a Stevens graduate degree program being offered for the first time there.

BIT students in the master's program join Stevens officials for the opening ceremony.BIT students received Stevens hats.Each student was presented with a Stevens t-shirt.Vice President Weatherall posed for a picture with each student in the program.

Stevens Master's of Science in Telecommunications Management is being offered to the Chinese students - partly online and partly in conventional classrooms - at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), one of China's premier engineering universities. The first started classes in November.

Instruction is delivered one-third online by Stevens' faculty, one-third by Chinese instructors in Beijing, and one-third by Stevens faculty in intensive courses in China. Students in Beijing will earn their master's degrees from Stevens.

On hand for the opening ceremonies were Stevens officials Maureen Weatherall, Vice President for University Enrollment and Academic Services, and Robert Ubell, dean for Online Learning and Corporate Development, as well as Stevens Physics Professor Hong-Liang Cui.
