Professional engineers partner with Stevens’ online learning unit

Stevens to deliver online graduate education and training to NSPE members

HOBOKEN , N.J. — The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the principal association of the nation’s professional engineers, announced this week an education and training partnership with WebCampus, the online learning unit of Stevens Institute of Technology. The agreement calls for Stevens to provide NSPE members with discounts on its advanced online degree programs and training courses.

The partnership with Stevens is part of the society’s role in providing continuing education opportunities for its members in 53 state and territorial societies and more than 500 chapters. NSPE already offers a wide range of continuing education options to those who need to fulfill licensure requirements. WebCampus will provide yet another education vehicle.

The 50,000-member society, founded in 1934, promotes engineering licensure and ethics as well as enhancing the image of engineers. It advocates and protects professional engineers’ legal rights at national and state levels and for members.

“Our partnership with Stevens will help address the needs of our members who want to earn additional degrees or certificates in specialty areas,” said NSPE director of education Mary Maul. “For busy engineers with little spare time, Stevens WebCampus is the perfect alternative for NSPE members who don’t have the time to sit in a classroom.”

Recognized as the “best online university” by the Sloan Foundation, WebCampus currently offers more than 130 courses, allowing students to complete an MBA in Technology Management, 12 different master’s degree and 33 graduate certificate programs in science, technology and management. This year, WebCampus was given the 21st Century Best Practices Award in higher education by the US Distance Learning Association. To encourage members to enroll in the school’s online graduate programs, Stevens offers members rebates off its regular graduate tuition.

NSPE members join nearly 900,000 other society members who participate in WebCampus partnership programs. Eight other associations, including internationally prominent groups—IEEE, ASME, AICHE, ACM, GWEC, NECA, AACE, and SNAME—have previously concluded agreements with Stevens. NSPE is the ninth association to join the online program. For more information, please contact Mary Maul, NSPE’s director of education, at (703) 684-2833.
