Chinese bankers to get management degrees from Stevens

US university selected by China Development Bank

HOBOKEN , N.J. — In a dramatic departure for the Chinese financial industry, a US university has been selected by China Development Bank, one of that country’s key infrastructure banks, to deliver a master’s in management program to 30 of its employees. Stevens Institute of Technology – one of only three schools in the world to be accredited by the Project Management Institute – will confer the degree next year, following an 18-month intensive project-management program.

“It’s thrilling to play a small role in China ’s uncanny growth,” commented Robert Ubell , dean of the School of Professional Education and head of Stevens’ online and China programs. “Our students in China now participate in some of the country’s most ambitious construction projects, including the massive Three Gorges Dam.”

Delivered in cooperation with Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in Beijing , Stevens’ holds one-third of the classes online from its campus in Hoboken , N.J. Another third is taught by Stevens’ instructors who travel to Beijing , and yet another third is taught by CUFE faculty following Stevens’ curriculum. All classes, whether online or live in Beijing , are conducted in English. The program is the third offered by Stevens in China . Two others – one in telecom management and another in optics – are offered at Beijing Institute of Technology.
