HOBOKEN , N.J. — Stevens Institute of Technology has been selected as one of CosmoGIRL!’s Best Colleges and is featured in the magazine’s October issue. “We select schools that provide the best environment specifically for female students,” said Susan Schulz, editor-in-chief at CosmoGIRL!. “We bring attention to important factors that girls may overlook or not even consider, such as female role models on campus, quality of women’s sports programs, availability of entrepreneurial courses, career centers that excel at internship, job placement and effectiveness of alumni networks.”
In addition to the list of colleges, the magazine included information about undergraduate enrollment, tuition, student-to-faculty ratio and average SAT scores. CosmoGIRl! also interviewed current students from each of the selected colleges. Jessica Blumberg, a senior, shared with the magazine some of her favorite aspects of attending Stevens. “At our pre-orientation program for freshmen, you can choose from lots of cool trips,” said Blumberg. “I went to New York City and visited Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. It’s a way to make friends and bond with everyone before school starts. I loved it so much I became an orientation leader!”
The editors selected Stevens because “we’re confident that the girls who go there are given the opportunity to encounter women who are innovative thinkers and successful leaders – inspiring students to follow in their footsteps to become the powerhouses of tomorrow,” said Schulz.
CosmoGIRL! reaches 7.5 million readers whose ages range from 16 to 23. Its mission is to show girls that they have the power to make their dreams come true when they put their minds to it and to work hard. The college edition of CosmoGIRL! was developed to assist readers in making important decisions regarding the best college for them.
